Die Diebe are back and this time with a big haul – it may not look shiny or tempting but we assure you that k2023 is going to be something you wouldn’t want to miss. This year Die Diebe decided to share with all people a compilation of deep reflexions that will give food for thought all year long. Every month you will enjoy the thoughts of the artists currently staying at the Kunst- und Naturfreundehaus Brünig. It also includes incredible discounts that you can use there, ranging from recording your own album to professional photography thanks to Bergstudios, also. If you still don’t believe that all this is true let me add that Die Diebe in their altruism have decided to share this loot completely free of charge!

What is it about in 2022? We really like to forget what was (is?).

Placebo works and therefore works logically nocebo as well. Medicines are tested double blind because it has been discovered that the knowledge of the person giving the medicine to the patient influences their health. In order to prove that a drug works, we must also prove that nothing is done without the drug. Thus, test subjects receive a drug that has no active ingredient, and the person handing it over knows nothing about it. And this drug without an active ingredient works again and again. And not just in one person out of a thousand. There is a debate about 20 to 90 percent efficacy. The same is therefore true for the reverse. If you think you are ill, you most probably are. If you go to the doctor with this attitude, they will look until they find something. This is nothing new. Our attitude is the be-all and end-all. Diseases are manifestations of our attitudes and the latter in turn can last several generations.

We are constantly told how incapable, paralysed and sick we are. But this only becomes a truth through our ability to influence ourselves through our attitudes. Like the fact that we can believe that we are incapable. Imagine what you could do if you were enthusiastic about it? Anything. Everything you can imagine and that will become more and more. And never forget love in the process. This calendar is an exercise for that.

After our 2020 was celebrated virally by capitalism, we as well thought it shall be finally time for something different. So our 2021 is now all about realignment, the way we want it. The lockdowns were our impetus to take the step into the house and away from the buzz, so we took over, among other things, a naturefriends house, where practically all the recordings of k2021 took place.

It’s true, we agree. We are witnessing the beginning of a fresh decade. It is the first that has had a name a hundred years ago, or vice versa, whose reflection a hundred years ago we gave a name.

What does this mean for our understanding of the distance to the past? Are we now on the spiral at an anachronistic or similarspecialrepetitive point?

In the calendar 2020 the bands involved present themselves. Mirrored in a remnant of the Roaring Twenties, the origin of the Golden Age of Capitalism.

Starting from places, the 2019 annual calendar consisted of scenes, their photographs, stories and sounds. Sound and image are collected by Mater and Spirit from DIE DIE BE and mixed with their own perception of being. Propaganda 16 about this topic (German).

Our first calendar is a compilation with 12 artists. All Songs are recorded, mixed and mastered by Die Diebe at the Zentrale (except number 10 and 03). All images are created by Die Diebe. This calendar is an opportunity for musicians and spoken word artists to be heard and seen.
